Congressional Black Caucus Chair Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement welcoming Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-02) to the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC):
“We are very excited to welcome Congresswoman Robin Kelly to the Congressional Black Caucus as our 44th Member and as the 43rd woman of color to serve in the history of the House of Representatives,” said CBC Chair Marcia L. Fudge. “Rep. Kelly is a true public servant, having worked many years as a community leader and leader in the Illinois House of Representatives to address the concerns that face urban communities. We welcome Rep. Kelly to the caucus and look forward to the perspective she will bring to the CBC.”
“I am honored to join the Congressional Black Caucus. I have long admired the Caucus’ work in helping to improve the quality of life of all Americans by fighting against social and economic injustice,” said Rep. Robin Kelly. “I plan to work with the CBC to address the many pressing issues facing our nation, including the epidemic of gun violence, immigration reform and economic development and job creation. I’d especially like to thank Chairwoman Marcia Fudge and my Illinois CBC colleagues, Representatives Bobby Rush and Danny Davis, for their warm welcome. I look forward to working with them and the remainder of my distinguished CBC colleagues to move this county forward.”
