Congressional Black Caucus to Host Forum on Immigration Reform in Black America at Howard University
Students, Advocacy Groups to Join the Conversation Online via Social Media
On Tuesday, April 9 from 7:30 – 9:00pm, the Congressional Black Caucus’s Taskforce on Immigration Reform in partnership with Howard University will host a forum on the impact of Immigration Reform in Black America.
Though there are more than three million immigrants of African descent living in America, the immigration reform debate rarely includes the unique experiences and challenges facing black immigrants. There are also assumptions about the impact immigration reform will have on African Americans that have led to tensions in communities and on college campuses.
In a conversation led by CBC Taskforce on Immigration Reform Co-Chairs Rep. Yvette Clarke (NY-09), Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) and Rep. Steven Horsford (NV-04), the Immigration Reform in Black America forum at Howard University will allow for open discussion on these issues.
