CBC Members Participate in #MarchForOurLives Events in Nation’s Capital, Cities Across the Country

Today, members of the Congressional Black Caucus participated in #MarchForOurLives events in the nation’s capital and other cities across the country to protest Congress’ failure to pass gun safety legislation in the wake of mass shootings at schools, movie theaters,  churches, and other community spaces, as well as gun violence that happens daily in inner city communities. Below is a preliminary list of members who participated in events. The list is not exhaustive. 

DC

·        Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA) met with students from Oakland, California who participated in the march.

·        Congresswoman Robin Kelly (D-IL) met with 300 students from Chicago, Illinois and other Windy City community stakeholders who participated in the march.

·        Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) met with students from Newark, New Jersey and then walked with them to the march.

·        Congressman Anthony Brown (D-MD) took a metro to the march with students from Maryland.

·        Congressman Donald McEachin (D-VA) participated in the march.

Districts

·        Congresswoman Gwen Moore (D-WI) participated in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin march.

·        Congressman André Carson (D-IN) participated in the Indianapolis, Indiana march.

·        Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence (D-MI) participated in the Detroit, Michigan march.

·        Congressman Dwight Evans (D-PA) participated in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania march.

·        Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE) participated in the Wilmington, Delaware march.

·        Congresswoman Val Demings (D-FL) participated in the Orlando, Florida march.
