CBC Chairman Cleaver’s Statement on October Jobs Report
Congressional Black Caucus Chairman Emanuel Cleaver, II released the following statement after the Department of Labor announced the economy added 171,000 jobs in October:
“Today’s jobs report shows that our economy continues to improve. Thousands of jobs were added and more Americans have resumed looking for work. After thirty-two straight months of gains, I am confident our country remains on the path to a steady recovery.
“For more than two years the monthly jobs report has given us promising news, but it is up to Congress to put the American people first. We’ve played partisan politics and gambled with their futures for too long. We must do what is necessary to work together and protect our workers, get our economy back on track and provide all Americans an opportunity to live the quality of life we all deserve.”
