Today, the Congressional Black Caucus issued the following statement:
“It is unconscionable that the Supreme Court has allowed the Trump Administration to revoke the legal status of more than half a million Haitian, Cuban, Venezuelan, and Nicaraguan migrants living in the United States. Participants in the CHNV Parole Program are individuals who have met every requirement imposed by the federal government—only to see the U.S. break its promise and abandon them.
“This decision betrays our nation’s credibility and its most cherished values. At our best, America stands as a beacon of hope—a country that welcomes and protects those fleeing humanitarian crises, political persecution, and economic hardship. These individuals came here believing in the American promise and have contributed meaningfully to our communities. For the Trump Administration, cruelty is the point. It is profoundly disturbing that the Supreme Court has chosen to enable this cruelty by siding with the agenda of MAGA extremists and endorsing bigoted, xenophobic policies.
“The Congressional Black Caucus remains steadfast in defending the core principles of justice, fairness, and compassion. We will continue to fight for the protection of CHNV Parole Program recipients and for an immigration system that reflects the values we aspire to uphold as a nation.”
