Press Call Friday, May 1st at 1:30 PM: Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Chairman G. K. Butterfield and House Democratic Leadership Address the Impact of the GOP Budget on Black America

On Friday, May 1st at 1:30 p.m., Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Chairman G. K. Butterfield, Representative Barbara Lee, and members of House Democratic Leadership will hold a press call addressing the impact of the Republican budget on the African American community.

Black America is in a state of emergency and what we see happening in Baltimore, Maryland is not solely about police misconduct, it’s about poverty, unemployment, lack of opportunity, hopelessness and despair. House Democrats have offered a proactive agenda that works to help families who are working hard to make ends meet, grow the economy with more broadly shared prosperity, and ensure everyone has a chance to pursue the American Dream. Our efforts stand in stark contrast to the Republican budget, which is a recipe for national decline. The GOP proposal calls on middle-class Americans to work harder and get less, causing our nation’s most vulnerable communities to struggle.
