Statement by CBC Chairman G. K. Butterfield on the Confirmation of Loretta Lynch as Attorney General of the United States

“I am proud to join with my colleagues in the Congressional Black Caucus to applaud today’s confirmation of Loretta Lynch as the next Attorney General of the United States of America.

“Today is a historic day for our country as Loretta Lynch becomes the first African American female to serve in the role of our nation’s top law enforcement official.  Her impeccable qualifications in this important position will help our country move the criminal justice system forward.

“Ms. Lynch was the choice of President Obama, she is the choice of the Congressional Black Caucus, and she is the best choice for all Americans.”
