Congressional Black Caucus Condemns Governor Abbott’s Pardon of Daniel Perry
Washington,
May 17, 2024
Today, Congressional Black Caucus Chairman Steven Horsford (NV-04) and members of the Congressional Black Caucus issued the following statement on Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s pardon of Daniel Perry: “The Congressional Black Caucus strongly condemns Governor Greg Abbott’s decision to grant a pardon to Daniel Perry, who was convicted by a jury for the murder of Garrett Foster. Governor Abbott’s decision to deny justice for Garrett Foster and grant a pardon to the man responsible for his murder, while restoring his rights to own a firearm, is ill-advised. Garrett Foster’s legacy and his surviving family and loved ones deserve better.” |
