WASHINGTON – Today, Congressional Black Caucus Chairman Steven Horsford (NV-04) and members of the Congressional Black Caucus issued the following statement in response to the Monterey Park, CA mass shooting:

“Like many Americans, I was saddened to wake up to the news Sunday morning of another preventable mass shooting in one of our communities. Thoughts and prayers are never enough, but we are thinking of the Monterey Park community, especially the Asian American families impacted by this event. And sadly, there are many shootings every day that don’t make the news, as the epidemic of gun violence traumatizes many Americans. We worked across the aisle to see the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act become the law of the land, but we know that there is still much more work to do to get these weapons of war off our streets and keep guns out of the hands of violent individuals. It is my hope that we can work together across the aisle to find common sense solutions to this preventable violence."
