Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Chair Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement today in honor of the 70th anniversary of D-Day:

“Today we honor thousands of troops within the Allied Forces who stormed Normandy during the invasion that led to the demise of Nazi Germany and the end of World War II.  Because of the sacrifices they made, thousands of lives were saved and the world was made safer for democracy to prevail.

“To this day, the courage and bravery shown by the soldiers who secured a heroic victory on Normandy’s beaches seventy years ago continue to inspire the men and women of our Armed Forces. Let us use today to reflect on their legacy and to remember how each veteran, active and reserve duty member of our Armed Services commits a large part of their lives to protect our freedoms at home and abroad.”
