(Link) – Today, Members of the Congressional Black Caucus served meals in the District of Columbia at So Others Might Eat (S.O.M.E.), an interfaith, community-based organization that exists to help the poor and homeless of our nation's capital.

“Many Members of the CBC represent districts with very high rates of hunger and poverty,” said CBC Chair Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11). “And while our primary function as Members of Congress is to debate and pass legislation, we must not lose sight that our primary goal is to improve the quality of life for the people we serve, and particularly to end poverty and hunger in this country. I can’t think of a better way to be reminded of this goal than through hands-on community service in our districts and in the District of Columbia.”
