Civil and Voting Rights

“Resisting the Rollback”

The case of Brown v. Board of Education helped lay the foundation for Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and other landmark civil rights measures. These measures helped form a more perfect union by finally guaranteeing equality and justice for all Americans. But as Coretta Scott King taught us, “freedom is never really won, you earn it and win it every generation.” The CBC Civil and Voting Rights Task Force continues the fight to ensure that the freedoms for which countless patriots fought and died will never be eroded. This work is particularly important as the Trump Administration attempts to rollback civil rights protections on everything from education oversight to police accountability.
