WASHINGTON – Today, the Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, Congressman Cedric L. Richmond (D-LA-02), released the following statement on President Trump’s recent tweet about white South African farmers.

“Here is the real story behind President Trump’s tweet: Every time he is caught in a lie or the Mueller investigation gets closer to the truth, he tries to play the race card so he can distract the American people from the fact that his actions and the actions of his fellow Republicans have put our democracy in flames.

“President Trump’s tweet has nothing to do with white South African farmers and everything to do with the fact that he is likely an unindicted co-conspirator in a crime after his former personal attorney stated in court that he instructed him to pay a porn star and a Playboy model hush money in order to increase his chances of winning the presidential election.”
